YOUNGEST GRANDMASTER IN INDIA,

The youngest chess Grandmaster in India is Gukesh Dommaraju, who achieved the title at the age of 12 years, 7 months, and 17 days on January 15, 2019. Born in Chennai in 2006, Gukesh began playing chess at the age of 7. He rapidly progressed through the ranks, becoming an International Master in March 2017. In 2018, he won the under-12 title at the World Youth Chess Championship and secured multiple gold medals at the Asian Youth Chess Championship. By September 2023, he became the top-rated Indian player, surpassing Viswanathan Anand's 37-year record. In 2024, at the age of 18, Gukesh made history by becoming the youngest-ever World Chess Champion, defeating China's Ding Liren in the decisive 14th game of the championship
